Hi there, I've been thinking I could probably re-organise my network to make it more efficient with potentially upgrading devices for more bandwidth.
Also not sure it matters but how do you have your catalogs configured? Are they stored centrally on the CASO server or are they stored on the managed servers? Do you have the latest BE updates installed? I create, control and run all my jobs from the CASO and let it determine which managed server to use. This works fine for me even though the jobs run on the managed servers. We have BE 2014 with a CASO and 5 managed BE servers and I have the overnight job summary to show all jobs that ran in the past 24 hours. As I believe that it is a bug in the software, maybe product management or engineering would be more interested in it. I have contact technical support about this but had no joy. However, when we run the report whilst an active job is running on the managed media server, the report does not show the active job. When we run this report whilst an active job is running on the CASO server, the report shows the active jobs correctly.
Job Status is also included as a field and this should show whether the job is active or completed (success, failure etc). The field job is active has been included to indicate whether the job is still running. We have created a report similar to the Overnight summary report which displays all jobs which started in the last 24 hours . When we run jobs on the managed media server, they appear correctly as active on the CASO server. We have Backup Exec 2014 installed with CASO in a distributed environment with one CASO server and a managed media server on another site.
